SUICIDE TRUMPS LINE-OF-DUTY DEATHS

There were 174 officer suicides in 2020, making officers more likely to die from suicide than in the line of duty — even as shootings of officers increase. From April 2020 to April 2021, officer retirements increased 45 percent, a trend that shows no sign of abating.

EXPOSURE TO TRAUMA

According to a  First Responder Mental Health Survey approximately n9 out of 10 first responders will be exposed to a traumatic event in their career, and according to Substance Abuse and Mental Health administration around 1 in 3 of them will develop post-traumatic stress disorder.
